Approaching from the Colchester direction
Leave A12 at sliproad for Chelmsford (some miles after the Hatfield Peverel exit slip). At the top of sliproad (Boreham Interchange), traffic lights at a large roundabout (from experience it is better to stay in the left hand side lane at peak times and go round the outside of the roundabout). These only work at peak times. Take the third exit travelling towards Chelmsford. Go over bridge (A12 underneath) - another roundabout, take the first exit - Springfield and Chelmer Village. At the next roundabout go straight across - Royal Mail on the left. Proceed along road and at the next roundabout take 2nd exit (not counting the one into the garage!) and go over bridge. Now on White Hart Lane. Landmarks on the roundabout include White Hart Inn, Eastern Autos and Sainsbury's. Go along White Hart Lane - pass New Hall School sign on right. At the next roundabout take first turn left into New Bowers Way. At the next roundabout you are at the junction with Pump Lane. Take the second exit. Carry on straight for 2-300 yards then mini roundabout - sign on lamp post says Boswells School. Take left turning into Sidmouth Road. Follow road round. Take 1st right into Dartmouth Road. As you travel along this road you will see school at the bottom of the road, where access to the pool is obtained. To get to front of school follow road round, take the next turning into Burnham Road. School along right hand side. Visitor parking is available in the front of the school. To access the swimming pool walk round to the back of the school (staff parking), enter the gates and follow the building to the right.
Approaching from the London Direction
You will need to take the Chelmsford North Springfield exit from the A12. Leave the A12 at slip road marked for Stansted (A130) and Accident & Emergency Hospital (a later local white sign mentions Springfield/Boreham). This brings you up to a large roundabout. On the left hand side you will see the large Royal Mail sorting office. Take the second exit off the roundabout travelling towards Springfield and Chelmsford (the first exit would actually take you into the Royal Mail area!) At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit (2nd exit is into a garage!) and go over bridge. Now on White Hart Lane. (Landmarks on the roundabout include White Hart Inn on your left, a Mercedes Benz Garage and Sainsbury's on your right.) Go along White Hart Lane - pass New Hall School sign on right. At the next roundabout take first turn left into New Bowers Way. Proceed along the length of New Bowers Way (you will pass The Bishops School, St Augustine's Church and Parish Centre on your right). At the end of the road there is a roundabout take the second exit. (Now on Pump Lane) Carry on straight for 2-300 yards until you reach a mini roundabout - sign on lamp post (on right) says Boswells School. Take left turning into Sidmouth Road. Follow road down and round. Take 1st right into Dartmouth Road. As you travel further along this road you will see the school at the bottom of the road, where access to the pool is obtained. To get to front of the school follow the road round, left hand bend at bottom and then take the next turning on the right into Burnham Road. School along right hand side. Visitor parking in front of the school. To access the swimming pool walk round to the back of the school (staff parking), enter the gates and follow the building to the right.
